I thought it might be useful (for new users especially) to have a single place to find free patches. At the end of the month I can collect them all up and re-post them as a Vital bank.

I thought this thread could be limited to free stuff. Producers of commercial patches can have their own threads and thus make a bit more of a fanfare to promote their super sounds.

I tried to turn the plucked string patch into something with a lot more sustain, and I think it turned out rather successfully. However, I don’t think it’s quite perfect yet and I would appreciate feedback on this patch from some more experienced sound designers. Either way, I hope you enjoy!

Patch: Split Waveform Cycle Phase Offsetting

Wow… what a complicate title for a patch. It’s only a kind of technical name to reflect what’s the main trick of this patch. It’s not a fully optimized patch, more of a experiment to showcase the audio rate modulation capabilities of vital. So there’s some ModWheel interaction, but no velocity or other stuff. It again uses the trick of audio rate modulation! In this case I spit the waveform of a saw in two halfs, one is the first part of a waveform cycle (OSC1) the 2nd obviously then the second…

Another "Spliced Waveform" Patch - use ModWheel to add character

Here’s another spliced waveform patch. What does splicing mean? By using audio rate and note-synced LFO the basic triangle wave form is augmented with a pulse. It’s not mixing! It’s about replacing parts of the triangle waveform. You can check out the effect by pressing a single key and watch the waveform in the advanced tab when mod wheel is down. It’s a pure triangle. No slowly open the mod wheel. You can see that parts of the triangle are replaced with a pulse width waveform… it’s interes…
