When is a new version arriving?

I don’t think it’s a sad story at all, Vital works great, it’s not resting on laurels it’s literally just being a synth.

Matt owes us nothing and has given us Vital for free
Matt can do whatever he likes, Its not a competition, they’re just plug ins.

Well then he can just remove the “Bugs” and “Feature Requests” section here if he doesn’t want to do any further development anyway.

A clear statement would at least not leave the “fans” in the dark.

A strange situation overall.

PS: And I paid for Vital in that sense, not for the additional presets or TTWT.

He’s not active, I get it and that annoys some people
I think that’s the wrong mindset though to approach and/or support a project like this

Do keep in mind the forums have never been that active at all - it’s mostly just a resource for those that don’t have discord really

If you don’t like the current version of “Vital”, you can uninstall it and install other free synths for yourself.
I certainly won’t do that , because it’s one of the best synths I’ve had. New skins, sounds, manuals etc are being created, so “Vital” is alive, through the work of others.

While having no update is a bummer I don’t feel bad and I’m glad that Vital exist regardless of it’s dev. You guys seem to forget that there are people (me included) who’re using Amiga synthesizers still for different reasons. Unless you want the top of the top performance digital instruments aren’t getting older and forgotten as much as people believe.

Certain projects reach their end and developing them may result in them becoming something else. So it’s better to just create new things and leave older projects. Developing the “Vital” synth will make it not so easy to use anymore and the processor may not be able to cope. Constant upgrades, is the current fad which has the disadvantage that it lacks stability and the possibility of mastering a specific VST synth.

We were given a free “Vital” and any pretensions can be considered a lack of good manners. If someone bought their own sound banks, I don’t think anyone is taking them away. And I don’t think anyone promised that “Vital” would be updated until the end of the world.
‘Vital’ makes it very easy to create your sounds, spaces, rhythms and lets you choose the right skin. People create thousands of new sound banks if someone doesn’t want to create their own. The available sounds can be considered some of the best in the world. So for a musician [not an engineer] this is a fully usable[flexible] synth that will stand the test of time, because its quality is timeless.

Thank you finally some intelligence

I myself have a collection of older “VST” plug-ins[32 bit] and I use them because they are timeless. And “Vital”, along with my collection of sounds, will also be used as long as the computer allows me to do so.
Matt has given us more than others, so we should let him do what he wants , because it’s his life. We can only thank him for his good deeds. Maybe a new different synth will be created, which will also be in our interest. Or maybe “Vital” will be updated and that’s cool too. So far Matt’s actions have been good, so I think you have to give him time and trust.
Although it would be good for Matt himself to tell us publicly what his plans are.

Are you Matt or a friend of him? Sounds kind of like that .-)

I’ve never met Matt. I’ve been using the “Vital” plug-in for a while now, as I previously had the studio on an older computer. I use micro tuning and Vital is irreplaceable for me. You can always search for my profiles as “afikcja Internet Archive”. I live in Poland.
All I know is that people doing something free for people are usually kind to others. And the resentment often comes from those who don’t do anything good for others and just say “give, give, give, and I won’t give anything”.
Matt abandoned “Helm” and a better “Vital” was born.

So I find it really quite funny why Matt is defended here every time.

Sure, he provided the synth for free. Of course these users are not allowed to demand anything. But what about the hundreds of buyers of the non-free versions?

You hear people saying things like “you only paid for the presets”, but not for the synth itself.

1.5.5 is not available on Github, otherwise the community could have developed Vital further.

That’s what 90% of this is about: people want to know whether there will be updates or not. Matt could confirm or deny this within a minute. That would clarify the matter and no one would have to guess whether something is coming again… and would feel like they were being taken for a ride.

I also wrote that it would be good for Matt to say what he wants to do next. And if Matt doesn’t want to develop “Vital” anymore, he might actually let “Vital” be developed by others[although that’s his decision].
Matt didn’t order anyone to buy extra presets and the “paid” versions were relatively cheap, so it’s hard to expect eternal support.
Sometimes the defence is that we listen to others and recognise that the pretensions make sense, or that they don’t. In the case of a synth like “Vital”, criticism is pointless, since the current version is exceptionally good and it’s no coincidence that so many new sound banks are being created, since it’s so easy to create sounds[even I can as a musician]. This means that “Vital” will live a long time with new presets, skins and music to be created by people from all over the world. Not everyone is rich and “Vital” for the poor is a powerful tool to create music at the highest level. And that’s why there are people who will defend Matt, without self-interest.

Cheap? I should have invested the money in serum instead, because at least there’s SUPPORT and UPDATES!

I don’t care anymore, I’m out of here.

A disappointed Vital user

Why get upset. I wrote my opinion and you may have a different one. That is, you think that spending an extra $25/$75 means eternal support. And the current version according to you is weak.
I myself added over 450 presets and some 200 wavetables to the free version of “Vital”, as well as some skins. So you yourself could expand “Vital” without paying and not resent the few $.

Yeah especially H. G. Fortune synths. I sincerely believe that they’re timeless art. There are things that transcends fidelity.

The acoustic harp has been around for thousands of years and is still in use today.

Guys these threads really don’t do anything to help it’s just in-fighting
Either keep using vital as is, or don’t. It’s really not hard - No one is arguing against an update from Matt would be super helpful

But please atleast complain on discord where he’ll have a chance of seeing it lol
The forums are not activate there’s like 10 of us here man its been like that since 2020

The fact that you inheritently compare Vital to Serum, a $250 USD synth - just goes to show how high vital punches above its weight class.

Vital IS cheap, it’s free. Paid tiers give you access to bonus material, that’s all.

I’m not mad I paid for Camelphat back in the day
Same goes with some Native Instruments products, iZotope, sonic Anomaly, etc etc

I can name tons of stuff I’ve bought where support and updates just stop - or can’t use because of a bug

Like I’m sorry, but also like welcome to software plugins?? :man_shrugging:

One chooses “Vital”, another prefers the $250 “Serum”. Someone likes plums and someone prefers pears. It’s good that there is a choice. A meeting of 10 people can be nice too.

OK just dropping in - this thread was written simply as a request for information, not as a platform for arguing, debate, complaints etc! It would be great if Matt could weigh in on progress/news, but either way he’s not obligated too, despite the fact that this is his (highly skilled and generous) work.

I’d love to hear how Matts doing and if he has future plans for Vital development/support - it’s an incredible, powerful professional synth and sound design tool in its own right and will have contributed towards the democratisation of music tech for a large amount of people over the last 5 years.

Information is often released if support officially ends on a plugin, so if that is the case it would be great to hear too, as that would end possible speculation in that scenario.

Respect to everyone here - I’m also going to check the discord as I haven’t checked it out yet.

Cheers
