When is a new version arriving?

Any update from Matt that anyone knows about? Vital has become my go to for pretty much everything, but I would love to see a feature based update! (And I’m sure everyone here would too)

I would like too but this situation is so strange, I mean, why not let people know about an update or how things really are?

I’d recommend checking discord for any updates
Keep in mind it’s just a single dev, so he’s probably busy with life and his other jobs lol

with serum2 going 3x osc id love to see vital go 4x osc.

Serum 2 has 3 oscs, a sub osc and a noise osc so kinda 5 osc. Also the oscs work as samplers so there’s a lot to catch in that regard.

Maybe soon? from the serum 2 “pressure”? idk… Kind of sad hes basically ghosting his whole community in a way. Saw him online in discord a minute ago so he’s alive, so that’s good haha but other than that a “hey, all good, this is happening:” every 6 months would’ve been nice. The last official announcement on anything was v1.5, so almost 3 years ago with his one “im fine still working” message in the middle pff, has anyone seen the number of bugs 1.5 brought? I don’t use it and didn’t go pro because it crashed a bunch or had a ton of gui bugs.

Reaper DAW is developed by just 2 people and they’ve been accessible in the dev section of the forum basically every weekday for the past what, 10 years?

So the “it’s one person” thing either is so true it’s just dumb at this point to not hire someone else to AT LEAST monitor and keep this forum updated on what is happening or he just meh’s his way through it because he trusts his product, which okay i guess but do you really not see the abandonware tag is slowly creeping? Coming out of the blue like “hey here’s v2 after 3 or more years of ghosting” feels bittersweet.

I hope it’s because he just went all in on v2 or whatever was after 1.5 -considering the new graphics engine or whatever- but now it’s a huge task at his hands which feels like a david vs goliath thing. But still, don’t keep your people in the dark like this, if you don’t want to give a deadline it’s fine too. Slow progress is also progress.

So… maybe soon? or just maybe don’t hold your breath either. If anything I wish I could use vital more but the lack of support and updates gives me irk.

Nah don’t hold your breath. I bet we have fusion power before Vital update.

Just use and accept it as it is.

Vital newbie here!

How long has it been since the last update?

Is there any support?

Any announcements?

Or is the plugin currently “as is” and we don’t really need to wait for new versions?

I’m only asking because I was just about to switch from V-Station to Vital. But I want to avoid having a plugin that is no longer maintained, where activation no longer works because the servers are down, etc.

Unfortunately, Vital seems to depend a lot on the online login :frowning:

I wish I knew when the next update would hit but even as as mod I don’t know. All that I know is that Vital is still in development and that the next update will bring some library updates such as CLAP

Treat it “as is”
Although I’ve used vital for years now and never really had majors issues (ofc odd bugs, etc) I still make sure to go back into projects and bounce the samples or stems out, etc.
The only synths I don’t do this with are daw defaults, I bounce my phaseplant and other plugins like arturia too eventually - but depends on your workflow and all that

But there’s no kind of “roadmap” or anything like that, is there?

You don’t even know if Matt reads through the feature requests here and prioritizes them in any way.

It would be cool if the community could somehow vote on which features should be included in the next versions, etc.

That definitely would be cool, but much more common in larger projects.
Similar to how the forums work for Engine DJ or Mixxx software

Of course, it also depends on what Matt considers “important” (personally) and what he thinks is important for the community.

Some people are literally crying out for (even) more modulation options, others want a (free) alternative to Serum with exactly the same features, etc.

As a Vital newbie, I would rather be happy about more “stunning” soundbanks. Or at least ONE really cool soundbank that completely convinces everyone: “Wow, I have to have this synth and this bank!”

You can find thousands of Vital presets on the net, but most of them are dubstep, psytrance, simple 80s synths or all kinds of experimental (unusable) stuff with a lot of Mod, LFO and FX… or the preset collapses completely when Osc 4 (Sample) is switched off.

If you want modern sounds that are currently being played on the radio, in clubs or at festivals, then you have to create the presets yourself.

All in all, however, a fast workflow is more important to me, which is why my feature requests here are mainly UX-based.

I would be happy with Osc Solo Button, Osc Destination → Filter (without FX) and a simple Arp (Up/Down/Up+Down) for the next update.

“Luckily” Serum 2 just came out and Matt can take over some of that

are there people here who would be interested in forking and developing Vital from the source code ? I m a total noob at this, but if there’s one synth I would invest the time and energy into keeping up to date, it would be this one for sure.

If you’re interested in diving deeper inside Vital definitely check out the discord and the Vitalium project!

Unfortunately, only the original version is available on Github for modification, not the latest version 1.5.5 with all the updates/bugfixes.

Otherwise, a few Vital fans could have simply developed it further as a group…

Apparently Matt is already working on the next synthesizer and some graphic stuff, for him Vital has probably been “finished” for a long time and there’s just nothing more to come.

He could save all the fans a lot of grief if he would just say something about it, but of course not just with a two-liner.

But Vital is gradually disappearing into oblivion, there are only pessimistic comments in all the forums and people are switching to other synths where new updates/bugfixes are regularly released.

Who buys the synth now if the author has been silent for years and offers no support at all?

It’s really a sad story overall :frowning:

Its as cool as ! Maybe a bug update - my is rock solid - it has loads to learn, i have had a few vst synths over the years alot have not been update or do a very bad vst 3 update . I cannot use them in Cubase as they totally crash the daw – shame. This is pleasure to use and inspiring . :grinning: :grinning:

Only one thing as i have paid for it uploads the basic pre-sets cannot get delete them as they re install , low work flow
