Same here, on Debian testing. Loading the plugin immediately crashes Reaper with a segmentation fault. And I no longer have the previous installer around, so I can’t even downgrade…
(Edit: speaking of the installer, it would be nice if the filename included the version number…)
I am also on Manjaro.
works seamlessy with open filebrowser.
as soon i get to the Mainscreen, all envelopes, Filtergraphics and Oscillator-Gfx (all the animated stuff) flashes in black.
the Sound is always okay.
the Preset : “Shepard tone template” works without any graphic glitches
the Preset: “Staggered phrases” flashes the screen like a stroboscope
it flashes as soon as one of the 2 FIlters parameters, that changes visuals, gets modulated by LFO or Envelope.
this is not happening modulating the “drive”-parameter, but anything else.
also happening in the Effects:
on the filter-effect as soon as something modulates the visuals.
-chorus and compressor are working nice
-Delay: modulating the Filter works.
-Distortion and EQ, flashes the screen just by activating them
-Flaner, Phaser and Reverb also flashes by activating them.
same here 1.0.3 working, 1.0.4 if I execute the stand-alone version
it quits instantly printing Killed
I am under Ubuntu 20.10, kernel 5.9.12-050912-lowlatency if that matters
I am no expert in debugging binaries, however I can share the strace if needed
EDIT: If I execute vital as VST 1.0.4 in renoise I cannot see the vital screen (just a black window) and at some point my system asks me if I want to force quit renoise
Hmm strange. I’ve been testing on Manjaro and it’s been working on my end.
What graphics drivers are you all using? Like mesa / proprietary nvidia / something else
i have also problems with this version on elementary os but its was before working.
when i try to start vital in the terminal i get this logs.
Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server request channel
jack server is not running or cannot be started
JackShmReadWritePtr::~JackShmReadWritePtr - Init not done for -1, skipping unlock
JackShmReadWritePtr::~JackShmReadWritePtr - Init not done for -1, skipping unlock
[1] 3137 killed vital
hopefully i can help with my input.
and happy new year by the way
Alright someone else mentioned that it works if using the mesa drivers so is something related to nvidia’s drivers. So this will probably have to wait till I get back to my linux box with an nvidia gpu before I can fix this.
Same problem here (UI flashing when animation is active), Arch Linux with Intel graphics. No crashes, though.

No such issues with 1.0.3.
EDIT: some interesting observation. In the Effects page, flashing does not occur when only Chorus, Compressor or Delay module are activated (even when animating). It happens with any other module only.
update 1.04 does not work properly, the sound is louder sharper! know
not sure
i couldn’t test it properly. oversampling 8x still works badly when I press several keys even more error messages in jack as 1.03 but with 4x oversampling it works reasonably with errors
only 1.04 stja!
the first minutes it worked, then everything started flashing when i press a keyboard key,
was curious after the update i was hoping to
start recording with vital, it looks like I have to wait
for the rest love it like helm thanks
