Wavetable choices, selecting the right one

General question here. With so many wavetables available how do you decide which ones to use?

No wrong answers. Sometimes a wavetable suggests a sound, other times I have a sound in mind and look for a wavetable for it. Setting aside the addition of modulation, wave shaping and effects how do you find base wavestables for your patches?

I tend to experiment a lot and look at other patches to see what’s being used to create them.

I tend to start with “Basic Shapes”, find which one fits the sound I want most, and then go from there.

Sometimes it’s easier to make a table from the base wave yourself than to select the desired wavetable. Of course, this does not always work out perfectly.
