I’m noticing difficulty using unison detune past 2 voices when using frequency modulation in vital. It seems that the detune for both modulator and carrier are the same at 2 voices but then becomes different at 3+, resulting in a different timbre between voices. I’m guessing that the tuning of the modulator and carrier don’t always align because of some randomization in how more than 2 voices detune. This is with 0% phase randomization.
They way unison works with FM in Vital is discussed here. You’re not the first one to expect different behaviour, but in that thread it is explained how it is implemented and why in that fashion.

Thank you! I didn’t know about “resynthesize to wavetable”. That lets me add the detuned voices after the fm, which is what I was trying to do.
