Tranpose snap explanation

Hey, I’m new to the forum so don’t know if this topic already exists. I’m having a hard time understanding the Tranpose snap feature. I read this manual : https://static1.squarespace.com/static/606b615de4309721c5c34b58/t/606f4c46d0db2166e36a2b86/1617906759643/Vital+User+Manual+Hookline.pdf
and the example about the Transpose snap settings (Page 6 bottom). I don’'t understand in the example why the numbers 4 through 9 adjust the midi note by 7 semitones. Why does the effect start when I adjust the pitch by 4 semitones, should it not start when I tranpose by 7 semitones? I don’t understand the range.

Thanks

Transpose snap allows you to lock the oscillator to play only certain notes.
(Make sure global snap is on!)

For example, if you lock onto C, the oscillator will only play that note no matter what note you press on your keyboard.

If you lock onto C and G, it will play either C or G based on whatever note you hit is closest.

Hope this helps!
