I want to follow the Midi Notes with the Spectral Filter of the Oscillator in order to lower 2nd and 3rd harmonic of a saw wave form.
But I was not successfull in finding the correct settings.
How should I set up OSC Spectral Morph Amount and how should I apply Note Modulation to it?
The note modulator is buggy, you need a custom curve for it to follow the frequencies perfectly. It might work to find a middle c with the filter and then apply that curve to the modulation remap. I have one that’s perfect to the point that two sines won’t drift with it. If you have problems nailing it I can share it.
I’ll share it as a curve file but I can also share a template patch later, my day is full today. You can inspect how the note modulator works by disabling the note following for an osc and then connect the note modulator to its pitch. In a perfect world it should modulate the pitch so that you can’t tell the difference, but it does not. It’s worth inspecting the remap graph in Matrix to see what’s happening while playing notes.
There also could be a scaling issue in play there, which brings us to another point - apparently the note modulator isn’t tuned to modulating its destination so that the destination follows the frequencies of the notes, but to modulate the destination by some amount.
Edit: Wait, Spectral Filter already follows the midi note input. You don’t need to set up the frequency tracking with Note modulator. See the attached patch. It has the following harmonics present, but not audible:
Okay, I’ll drop it later! And the spectral filter modifies the harmonics directly so it has to be tied to the frequency of the fundamental. It just makes sense.
