I have noticed that Vital always crashes when replacing a sample. If I add it without replacing anything, or replacing another VST, it seems to be fine.
I only see a VST3 option in FL Studio
if you installed both, you can find the VST2 variant in the browser, under: plugin database -> generators -> VST
