I would suggest you to release a point release say 1.09 now, where some major issues are fixed (like for example the statically linked libraries) and let the introduction of new features and requests for a future major release. New features and ideas take time. But bug fixes especially if they are known, critical and easy to fix are in my opinion more important.
With that said, please do release a bug fixing release, so me and many others, would enjoy this excellent piece of software…
